Vivamax: Review of PATHIRSTY: Lessons in LGBTQ Love

July 13, 2022

Pearl (Adrianna So) and her fellow vloggers Achilles (Keach Minemoto), Bunny (Chad Kinis), Sean (Bob Jbaley) and Faith (Kate Alejandrino) are invited by Ali (Alex Diaz), the attractive new CEO of Sebastian's Beach Resort from . . , visited his station for promotional purposes before the big launch and was featured on his blog.

Ali had just come out online as bisexual, so Pearl thought he would get along well with his best friend Achill. However, after the personal meeting with him, Inji is attracted to Ali. Perla does not hesitate as Ali approaches her when Akili tells her that she and Ali are good friends.

This new Vivamax movie is a spin-off of the hit series BL Gameboys (2020) created by Jun Lana. Pearl Gatdula and Achille de Dios are characters from the original series. Ivan Andrew Payaval (screenwriter of Born Beautiful and The Panti Sisters) has directed Gameboys since the first episode, as well as projects such as Pearl Next Door (2020), Gameboys. The Movie (2021) and now PaThirsty.

The film still employs the bright, happy aesthetic and social media savvy that made previous projects in the franchise so fun to watch, especially for Gen Z and Millennial audiences. From Pearl and Achilles, there are images of almost every line of the LGBTQ rainbow. here. This time resistance from the older generation is inevitable, in the form of Ali's father, Roger (Ray PJ Abellana).

Since the first Gameboys series, Adrianne So's feisty and fun-loving Pearl has been a fan favorite, and her generous nature deserves a share of the good stuff. Achilles Kych Minemoto has that pesky hole that causes all the confusion, certainly not Pearl. Ali, played by Canadian actor Alex Diaz, conveys a confident manly charm that makes the rivalry between these two best friends understandable.

As Payawal and Ash M write, the story of two best friends competing for one person's affection is not new, except for the underlying LGBTQ dynamic. Cara Moreno's cinematography is so lively that it confirms that her good work in "Kitty K7" is no accident. Although Vivamax's sex scenes are done with a touch of comedy, I think it shouldn't go that far. 6/10.
