January 19, 2022
In 1978, Patricia Reggiani (Lady Gaga), secretary of a trucking company, met shy law student Maurizio Gucci (Adam Driver) at a party. Patrizia recognized the famous title and knew that it was a way out of her current working-class situation and never let go of Maurizio until they finally married, despite her father's opposition. , Rodolfo (Jeremy Irons), who owns 50% of it. Fashion house Gucci.
Adding even more interest to the family is Rodolfo's brother, Aldo Gucci (Al Pacino), who owns the remaining 50% of the fashion house and believes his mad son Paolo (Jared Leto) can draw on his tailoring skills. During her pregnancy, Patrizia wins over Aldo and manages to get Maurizio back into the Gucci store. He later pressured Maurizio to take a more active role in the business, conspiring to gain a majority stake.
This is an exciting new film from veteran director Ridley Scott, based on Sarah Gay Forden's 2001 book The House of Gucci: Murder, Madness, Glamor and Greed, a tale of family drama and corporate politics. . Of course, Gucci is a world-renowned Italian luxury fashion brand, hence the relentless history of greed, scandal and crime among its rich and famous owners in the 1980s.
The collection gathered for this project cannot be missed for film lovers. The leading actors all had Oscar pedigrees as nominees or winners, all with their own distinctive Italian accents. Playing the confident Patricia comes naturally to the glamorous and emotional Lady Gaga . Adam Driver plays Maurizio with social awkwardness and sloppy business acumen.
These scenes, shared by cinema icons Jeremy Irons and Al Pacino, were eagerly awaited by their counterparts, stone cold Rodolfo and hot Aldo, respectively. Jared Leto disappeared behind his hair and makeup, playing a slapstick portrait of Paolo in the Peanuts gallery. Selma Hayek also gets some action as Pina, the seer Patricia seeks advice from.
Patrizia's upward mobility and pursuit of gold were quintessential pillars of the melodramatic soap opera. With Lady Gaga playing a high pitched pitch without any nuance of her subtle intentions, these scenes were funny and terrifying to watch. He carries this film complete with his charisma, standing alongside his famous older co-stars. The build up to the finale was haphazard and he felt lethargic executing it. 7/10
