MMFF 2021: Review of NELIA: Nutty Nurses

December 27, 2021

Last month, Nurse Nelia Katigbak (Winwin Marquez) noticed that patients were dying in room 009 of the Remedios Medical Center. Not surprisingly, all of these patients are under the care of Medical Director Dr. Raynald Solan (Raymond Bagatsingh) stood up. Dr. However, Solano overhears Nellie's conversation with the imaginary visitor. One accuses the other of indifference and mental instability, but who is telling the truth?

Winwin Marquez was as wild as Nelia. She is asked to appear suspicious in all of her scenes so that the audience doesn't know what she has in mind, but doesn't do it effectively. On the other hand, Raymond Bagatsingh, like the Honorable Dr. Solano completely exaggerated. Years of experience playing these evil characters came in handy, so it was easy.

Ali Forbes plays the stereotypical nymph sister Anna who is always on the lookout for Dr. Solano or Dr. Joson (Sheda Roxas) craves. Her sex scenes have no other purpose than to expand the story, to entertain. This time, my confiado was played very slowly, like the arrival of Nelia's soldiers whose existence was unknown. Lloyd Sammartino plays a general who doesn't know the hospital's secrets.

Even though it appears that a medical consultant was on the show, there were still some questionable scenes. Dr. Solano specializes in internal medicine and psychiatry and can also perform surgery for kidney stones and tonsillitis. The patient was given drugs to temporarily stop the beating (which didn't work), putting her in grave danger when the code team managed to revive and defibrillate her.

The premise can be very interesting if you are looking for an overwhelming puzzle that will keep the viewer hooked until the very end. Melanie Hani Quino's script, directed by Lester DiMaranan, made the plot even more confusing, mainly by intentionally inserting many confusing scenes that are illogical, irrelevant, confusing or even annoying when intentionally misleading. A red herring. 3/10
