Marlene Yambao (Nova Villa) was president of Tonta Club, a women's social organization. Ida and her husband Basilio (a ponytailed Efren Reyes Jr.) don't need much introduction.
Ms. Huang probably wants her own version of "The Golden Girls," about the friendships and tribulations of newlyweds and middle-aged brides. She did, and the wedding scene with the rainbow dress was hilarious. However, the script forces Marlene to drop a few hurtful words about her friends. We can only rely on the good will of the Nova Villa actress not to take Marlene's forced behavior too seriously.
Director Seng Lim has been making films and TV series for 15 years with his own production company, Oxim. However, it's still very basic in its angles and locks, and the narrative can feel a bit confusing and a bit long. Lim appeared on screen in one scene when the mayor was bombarded with selfie requests from midwives. All these mysteries somehow add to the humor of this strange film.
