Manila-based real estate agent Dee (Janine Gutierrez) traveled to her hometown of Bulusan, Sorsogon, to visit her Lola for her 80th birthday. When he goes shopping for coconuts, he meets his high school friend Edong (Pepe Herrera) , who runs a coconut farm inherited from his deceased parents . Edong was impressed by the beautiful Dee, but he was too busy with his work in Manila to take care of Lola's health.
Among the young actresses we have today, Jeanine Gutierrez stands out not only for her aristocratic beauty and casual grace, but also for her natural perfection. He's always been a character in every movie I've seen . A sudden melodrama in the third act tested his dramatic ability.
Pepe Herrera went from theatrical success to cinematic comedy in Rak of Aegis (Ang Pangarap Kong Holdap and more recently Sanggano, Sanggwapo, Sanggago 2). Despite her unconventional appearance, she has also played romantic roles in films such as Sakaling Hindi Makarating (2016) with Alessandra de Rossi and Hopeful Romantic (2018) with Rita Azul. .
The supporting cast includes comedy veterans Pilita Corrales (as Dis Lola Dulce), Wangi Labalan (as Dis Tita Carmen) and Archie Almania (as Manny, Edong's best friend). This is director Marla Ancheta's second feature film after In Search of Agnes. As with the unusual title, the material in "Ikaw" was not as extensive and original as "Agnes". The investigation had to endeavor to unravel the simple story here.
It was a troubled love story between a Manila girl and a farmer, a story that has been told many times since the beginning of the films. This very simple story was distinguished here only by the serious charm and acting of the main actors Gutierrez and Herrera. To be honest, the romantic chemistry between the two was quite uncomfortable, it took all the good will of the stars to convince us that this story could somehow happen. 5/10
