To the chagrin of her mother Victoria (Andie MacDowell), 18-year-old Auden West (Emma Pasarow) decided to spend time with her father Robert (Dermot Mulroney) in the seaside town of Colby, where she now lives. much younger than his second wife Heidi (Kate Bosworth) and a daughter named Thisbe.

At Colby, Auden handled the accounts for Heidi's store, which was run by three teenagers: Maggie ( Laura Cariuki), Leah ( Genevieve Hannelius), and Esther ( Samia Finnerty). It didn't take long for Auden to realize that the book Robert was writing involved much more than his family.

During a walk at night due to insomnia, he met Eli (Belmont Kameli), a 20-year-old boy and befriended him. Eli said that Auden couldn't experience the usual fun things that teenagers got to do. On the other hand, Auden saw how a tragic past experience prevented Eli from fulfilling his dreams.

It was one of those new Netflix rom-coms where the characters were played by older actors. Belmont Cameli is 24 years old and Emma Pasarou is even older, she is 26 years old. However, despite playing their first lead roles in a movie, Kameli and Pasarow looked good and excelled in their portrayals, despite the awkward romantic chemistry and the impossible (food fight, right?).

He was more interested in the story of Auden's parents, played by two 90s rom-com stars. Dermot Mulroney (now 58) played Robert as a brilliant but clueless father who gave his daughters pretentious names and blamed everyone but himself. 2000s star Kate Bosworth (now 39) played Heidi as a hilarious and mischievous young mother also dealing with hidden pain.

The cliche formula used in this movie was very predictable. The two loners know each other and get along quite well. Each will push the other into something they are not prepared to handle, causing friction between them. However, in the third act, they both realize that the other was just a good friend trying to push them to solve the problem that was holding them back. It would be good to study your insomnia in more detail. 5/10
