April 7, 2022

Engineer Vic Van Allen (Ben Affleck) is only middle-aged, but thanks to the money he made from creating a chip used in combat drones, he can already retire. However, his marriage to Melinda (Ana de Armas), who is much younger than him, did not go smoothly. In an express agreement to save her marriage, she is allowed to hire other men for sex. However, I soon began to feel jealous and insecure of you.

As Melinda begins a relationship with the much younger Joel Dash (Brendan S. Miller), Vic only mentions that he was responsible for the death of Melinda's ex-boyfriend, who disappeared there a week ago. When Joel takes the hint and leaves town, Melinda turns her attention to pianist Charlie De Lis (Jacob Elorden). One night, Melinda, Vic and Charlie are together at a pool party and have a tragic experience.

The story is adapted from a 1957 novel by author Patricia Highsmith, who is also responsible for other best-selling books and has been adapted into popular films such as Strangers on a Train and The Talented Mr. Ripley. "Deepwater" is a French film "Deep Water" (2002) directed by Michel Deville , starring Jean-Louis Trintignan and Isabelle Huber. In the year In 1983, a two-part German television film was made.

Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas play the Van Allen couple, who are always at odds with each other and pushing each other's boundaries and limits. Neither are particularly likable, so there's no one to beat them. Affleck was a lunatic who raised snails and scared men just for fun. De Armas was undoubtedly lustful, but Melinda was in a state of uniform seduction. Terry Letts was Don Wilson's boring and demanding friend.

The director is veteran director Adrian Lane, who returns after a 20-year hiatus. In his prime, he appeared in blockbuster films such as 9-1/2 Weeks (1986), Indecent Proposal (1992), Unfaithful (2002) and Fatal Attraction (1987). For Oscar to direct. He returns to the drama class with the psychological thriller here in Deep Water, but this new film is heavy and lacks subtlety. 5/10
