Vivamax: Review of REROUTE: Dire Detour

January 21, 2022

Musician Dan (Sid Lucero) and his bank manager girlfriend Trina (Cindy Miranda) visit Dan's hometown of Morinda. However, due to the blockade of the main road in connection with the army operation, they had to walk for a long time. Unfortunately, his car breaks down on a long road without telephone service. In desperation, they turned to a man who came out of the forest for help.

The man, Zemo (John Clay), is an ex-military man and now caretaker of the private property where Dan's car broke down. He takes them to his home, where he lives with his wife, Lala (Natalie Hart), who nervously obeys his every command. Radio Zemo for help, but no mechanics yet. After a dinner conversation, Zemo reacts strangely to Dan's full name.

Even without saying anything, John Archilla's Zemo automatically evokes a palpable sense of menace when he first appears on screen on the back of a dead animal. As Dan, Sid Lucero is actually a carefree slacker who doesn't want to cut corners. As Trina, Cindy Miranda, who previously worked with Fajardo on the sex drama Nerissa (2021), proved once again that she has acting talent to match her beautiful face and beautiful body.

As you can see from the trailer, there were sex scenes, but the plot didn't really need them. I doubt they can even be dressed to fit Vivamax's successful 'selling sex' formula. To Fajardo's credit, these sex scenes with Lucero and Miranda, which are beautifully photographed in black and white, are actually very well anchored and edited to look realistically sensual without being too lewd or saucy.

Directed by Lou Fajardo Director of Photography Joshua A. Rayless tells this enigmatic story in elegant black and white (written by his Mahjong Nights co-star Byron Bryant). Scenes in dark, enclosed or foggy rooms are so well lit that we can always see what's going on. long plan. And the aerial footage from the drone had a nice cinematic aesthetic. 7/10.
