It's rare for a film to garner both positive and negative public attention. Ever since writer-director Daryl Yap announced in February 1986 that he would be making this film about the Marcos family's final 72 hours at Malacañang Palace, it has sparked a whirlwind of opinion on both sides of the political spectrum. . Social media immediately exploded with panic, speculation, and accusations of historical revisionism. Regardless of which side of the fence you're on, you'll be interested to see what all the fuss is about.
One of the prominent names in the opening credits (with the sound of Marion Honore's rousing rendition of Sampaguitar's "Nosy Ba Lassie") was Senator Imi Marcos as creative producer, who was responsible for overseeing the entire creative process. concept is reality. Senator Imi was there when Yap first pitched the idea of the film. Their collaboration may have started out as fun and games, but Senator Imi soon saw how this film could help tell her side of the story.
Early elections in February 1986 ended in victory for both sides. Manang Johnny Ponce Enrile and General Fidel Ramos have already announced their revolutionary coup. Marco's family Imelda's trusted umbrella, Rick Morales, failed in his attempt to take control of the palace and kill the first family. The mood in the palace was already depressed, as were the food collections in the pantries. Marcos' children worried that their parents were doing nothing to regain control.
Daryl Yap chose to tell his story in 10 short episodes, or chapters, and he took the matter seriously. It lacked much of the irreverent comedy it was famous for in its previous outing. The dramatic scenes can be heavy and emotionally overwhelming at times, but Yass has comedic moments to set the mood. The actors try their best but they don't look like their famous characters which takes you away from the story. Before the loans were closed, there were some pretty shocking revelations.
Chapter 1 "Rebel Day" was Yaya Biday's (Beverly Salvizzo) account of the situation outside. Chapter 2 dealt with Imi's (Cristine Reyes) paranoia about the loyalty of the "Ilocos o Leyte" workers. Chapter 3 "Tigre" had a conversation between FM and Bongbong (Cesar Montano and Diego Loyzaga) in the library. Chapter 4 "Awit at Ahas" The thoughtful lady Imelda (Rufa Gutierrez) searches her dress and shoes to the tune of "Dahil Sa Yo". Chapter 5 "Bunso" Irene (Ella Cruz) asks her father to implement her plan.
Chapter 6 was about "Y" Bongbong convincing his mother that they would get the palace back. Chapter 7 of Palamunin addressed the concerns of the workers in Malacañang, led by Yaya Santa (Karla Estrada) and Manang Lucy (Elizabeth Oropesa). Chapter 8 "The Maid in Malacañang" was a discussion between Imi and her father. Chapter 9 "Ang Huling SONA" thanked the FM staff for their service and loyalty. Chapter 10 "Retaso" was about Imi's last idea to help the workers when the mob attacked the palace outside.
He served as Senator Imi Marcos' creative producer throughout the film. He wanted to give you a glimpse into the unfortunate events of the past three days, and this film did just that. All of this tearful dialogue between troubled kids and their struggling parents gave the Marcoses a chance to get their family message out there. Bongbong had promised his mother that he would return to the family palace, and now he did. Imi promised her father that her legacy would not be wiped out and now here is this picture.
The film made people realize that the Marcos weren't as sadistic as they seemed. They believed that they did not come from noble families but from simple provincials and were therefore loved by the Filipinos. These are the reasons why the EDSA revolution was peaceful. How the Marcos family wanted to remember their last days at the palace. There was more noise on social media than in the film .
Perhaps it was self-imposed hagiography; Citizens' sympathy can be appealed to; And for the most part, it didn't seem to be confrontational. That is, until Cory Aquino (Gizelle Sanchez) and her mahjong habits with Cebu nuns (as mentioned in Goodbye Summer Chapter 1) are discovered through gossip. It's the ending that usually haunts Darryl Yap for the last two minutes, maybe more than the whole movie.
